Coach Mori

Coach Mori is the man who started it all! He attended Waseda University in Tokyo where he received his B.A. degree in Physical Education. His Gymnastics interest began in high school where he placed high in competition. This encouraged him to continue his gymnastics training becoming the 2nd man in his University Team. In the United States, Coach Mori has won the 1971 & 1972 the Ben Price All-Round Championship - A competition among top California gymnasts. In a meet held at UCLA Coach Mori, by placing first All-Round, qualified for the U.S. G. F. Olympic Trails held in Atlanta Georgia. Coach Mori qualified for the Olympics however because he was still a Japanese Citizen, he could not represent the USA Gymnastic Team. Coach Mori made a career out of teaching gymnastics. He has owned and operated Mats Gymnastics since 1975 and has been at the same location for 35 years. Although Coach Mori does not teach competitive USGF gymnastics anymore, he welcomes anyone to his legacy of a gym where his son Matt passes on his craft of gymnastics. Come visit Coach Mori anytime because his enthusiastic cheering is so uplifting for any skill leveled student. To read more about his life story click here.
